PGA Tour Hits Playoffs in Memphis

The regular season is over, with the 2026 PGA Tour season coming down to the three-week playoff that begins this week in Memphis at the St. Jude Championship. The top 70 players in the FedExCup standings at the conclusion of last week’s Wyndham Championship advanced to Memphis.

The 72-hole, no-cut event will send the top-50 in the standings to the second playoff event, the BMW Championship, next week outside of St. Louis.

The course is a true tee-to-green test, with golfers needing good positioning off the tee (accuracy over distance), putting on Bermuda grass (like Florida golf), and strong approach play. Bogey avoidance is huge, as there are 11 water hazards on the course.

Hideki Matsuyama to win (+3000), top-20 finish (+100)

• Matsuyama finished seventh last week in Greensboro, his third straight top-10 and fifth straight top-15 finish.
• He's also played incredibly well at TPC Southwind, winning this event in 2024, losing in a playoff in 2021 and finishing 17th last year. He ranks first in all-time shots gained at TPC Southwind.
• Matsuyama has gained shots on approach in five of the last six events and in 11 of past 14, while gaining shots off the tee in each of the last five events.
• He's one of the Tour's better short game specialists, ranking 14th in scrambling and 20th in hitting greens.
